PURPOSE: This agreement is for three years and specifies daily emergency management related public service announcements run on KRKO and KKXA AM and FM radio stations. This includes preparedness information as well as emergency information during disasters.
BACKGROUND: For over 11 years, DEM has partnered with KRKO and KKXA radio stations to develop and refine public service announcements. The scope of this service has grown to include the capability to request real-time airtime to convey occurring disaster information and utilize the airwaves to deliver critical emergency messaging from the Emergency Operations Center. The service area of these radio stations covers the vast majority of the County and overlaps with neighboring counties, which provides a key communications tool in times of disaster.
