PURPOSE: Approve Amendment No. 3 with North Counties Family Services to increase funds to support advancing health literacy to enhance equitable community responses to COVID-19 grant funding.
BACKGROUND: In July 2021, the Snohomish Health District was awarded the Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Response to COVID-19 grant (AHL) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and North Counties Family Services was chosen as a subrecipient to this grant. They have promoted changes in the health care delivery system that improves health information, communication, informed decision-making, and access to health services and helped support and expand local efforts to provide adult education, English language instruction, and culturally and linguistically appropriate health information services in the community and have actively participated in multiple events and conducted outreach on behalf of the Health Department and grant activities.
