PURPOSE: To obtain Council approval of a 2nd amended contract with Keating, Bucklin & McCormack, regarding the litigation of the Aradon v. Snohomish County matter.
BACKGROUND: The County entered into a contract with Keating, Bucklin & McCormack on August 25, 2020. The Council approved the 1st amended contract on April 4, 2021, extending the limit for compensation for legal services related to the litigation of the Aradon v. Snohomish County matter (C20-064) to $150,000. The litigation of this matter, which involves dependency issues, is taking longer than initially anticipated. The 2nd amended contract authorizes compensation of up to $250,000 to Keating, Bucklin & McCormack as litigation continues.
