EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Ken Klein 09/03/22
PURPOSE: Will convene the Board of Equalization to permit the Board to hear 2022 assessment year petitions.
BACKGROUND: RCW 84.48.010(4) provides that, with the approval of the county legislative authority, the Board of Equalization (BOE) may convene at any time when petitions filed exceed twenty-five or ten percent of the number of appeals filed in the preceding year, whichever is greater. The Snohomish County BOE received 650 petitions for the 2021 assessment year. The Board has so far received over 1500 petitions for the current 2022 assessment year and has requested that the County Council convene the Board for the purpose of hearing these appeals.
