PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Olivia Gould to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 11 members and 14 vacancies.
• Ms. Gould resides in Council District 5
• Ms. Gould is currently a Global Marketing Event Manager at Amazon Business
• Ms. Gould has extensive leadership, communication and marketing expertise and wishes to utilize this expertise to advocate for children, youth, and families of Snohomish County
• Ms. Gould is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Ms. Gould is recommended for a first four-year term upon appointment
