PURPOSE: Approval of a 2023 Budget Transfer from Dept 16 Non-departmental to Dept 32 Office of Public Defense for Indigent Defense.
BACKGROUND: The increased need for indigent defense costs related to aggravated murder, expert witness and conflict attorney costs have exceeded the 2023 budget and require a budget transfer from Dept 16 Nondepartmental to Dept 32 OPD to cover these mandated costs. Sufficient authority exists in Nondepartmental to complete the transfer without an increase in the overall 2023 budget.
