body

DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Clarissa Barrett

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved (Ken Klein 8/17/24)

PURPOSE: This Critical Area Site Plan complies with requirements of the Critical Area Study (June 2018) in connection with the 180th Street SE Improvements Phase 1 (RC1530). Compensatory mitigation was required per Chapter 30.62A SCC (Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas) for the project’s impacts to critical areas.

BACKGROUND: The 180th Street SE Improvements Phase 1 (RC1530) Project was approved for construction by the Army Corps of Engineers (Permit NWS-2018-121-WRD). As part of the regulatory permit process, a Critical Area Study (June 2018) was required in order to construct the project. The Critical Area Study required an area for compensatory wetland mitigation in a designated protection site that would be left permanently undisturbed in a substantially natural state. Parcels 00693400099800, 00703100010201 and 00703100010100 were provided as compensatory mitigation sites for the project’s impacts to critical areas. Permanent protection of this mitigation site requires approval by the Snohomish County Council and recording of a Critical Area Site Plan with the County Auditor.
