PURPOSE: To surplus downed timber occasioned by the “bomb cyclone” event in November 2024.
BACKGROUND: In the severe “bomb cyclone” storm which took place in November 2024, a stand of trees about 10 acres in size adjacent to the campground at Lake Roesiger Park, blew down making the site inaccessible and unsafe for recreation. The quantity of trees that fell was significant (estimated 500 MBF) and will require removal before the site can be restored to forest conditions. We propose to conduct a salvage sale of the downed trees. The goal of the salvage sale is not only to restore the site to forested conditions, but to prevent forest health problems from arising for the remaining stand of trees.
