body

DEPARTMENT:  Health

ORIGINATOR:  Rhonda Smids-Osborne

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Lacey Harper 4/7/26

PURPOSE: Snohomish County, acting through its Health Department, needs access to the Washington State Department of Health Respiratory Virus Hospitalization Surveillance Network (RESP-NET) platform.

BACKGROUND: Snohomish County will utilize Washington Immunization Information System (WA-IIS) data on RESP-NET, which will serve as the primary method for identifying vaccination status for surveillance of COVID-19-, influenza- and RSV-related hospitalizations. The primary objective is to provide timely age-specific rates of cases among children and adults, describe clinical characteristics, outcomes of patients, hospitalization rates and burden estimates, and assess risk factors for COVID-19, influenza- and RSV-associated complications among hospitalized persons.
