body
DEPARTMENT: Health
ORIGINATOR: Rhonda Smids-Osborne
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Lacey Harper
PURPOSE: Enter into agreement with City of Marysville for naloxone distribution (leave-behind program). The Snohomish County Council passed Ordinance No. 23-048 approving form agreements for naloxone distribution (leave-behind program) between Snohomish County and local jurisdictions within Snohomish County on June 7, 2023.
BACKGROUND: The opioid epidemic is a public health, safety, and economic crisis impacting all communities within Snohomish County and resulting in a significant loss of life to residents. In exchange for data regarding opioid overdoses occurring within the county, the Snohomish County Health Department currently provides naloxone to partner jurisdictions that respond to opioid overdoses within Snohomish County. This opioid overdose data is used to track areas of high demand for naloxone in order to shift naloxone resources to those areas as those areas change over time. The Health Department recognizes the public health, safety, and welfare benefits of promoting wider availability of naloxone within Snohomish County.
