DEPARTMENT: Conservation & Natural Resources/Surface Water Management
ORIGINATOR: Connie Price/Marisa Burghdoff
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Lacey Harper 6/21/24
PURPOSE: To authorize and approved the Intergovernmental Service Agreement with the City of Marysville for Lake Management Services on Gissberg Twin Lakes.
BACKGROUND: The City of Marysville and the County recognize the importance of performing certain water quality monitoring and invasive aquatic plant management services at Gissberg Twin Lakes. Snohomish County has provided water quality monitoring services to other jurisdictions since January 2006 and has the staff and resources available to provide this service for the City of Marysville at Gissberg Twin Lakes. Under the proposed agreement, the City of Marysville will pay the County a total of $7,685 for lake water quality monitoring and invasive plant management services in 2025. Costs for future years shall be determined and agreed upon by both parties on an annual basis. The annual cost has a potential to be higher in future years should there be a re-emergence of invasive Eurasian watermilfoil. These services will continue through the end of 2029, not to exceed $150,000.
