Title
Motion 24-030, confirming reappointment to the Snohomish County Noxious Weed Control Board (Joshua C. Misenar)
body
DEPARTMENT: Conservation and Natural Resources

ORIGINATOR: Gerry Saw

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Lacey Harper 1/17/24)

PURPOSE: To fill a vacancy on the Noxious Weed Control Board in District 3

BACKGROUND: The Noxious Weed Control Board was created to adopt rules and regulations necessary for an effective County weed control and eradication program. It is made up of five members, each of whom represent a specific geographic Weed Control District and an at-large ex-officio member. Mr. Misenar submitted an application to be a member of The Noxious Weed Control Board. He lives in Granite Falls, which is in District 3. Mr. Misenar has been a professional forester in the Western Washington area since 2007. Previously, he worked in the reforestation divisions of Sierra Pacific Industries and Hancock Forest Management. Controlling noxious weeds had been a major part of his job duties. He has witnessed how noxious weeds effect commercial crops, natural ecosystem, recreational areas and private properties. Currently, he teaches a class on invasive species at the Green River Community College. Mr. Misenar's background and commitment to the ecological stewardship makes Joshua an excellent Noxious Weed Control Board candidate. Pursuant to SCC 2.030.030, County Executive recommends the appointment of Mr. Misenar to a 4 year term expiring 12/31/2028.
