PURPOSE: Confirm James Miller, MD, MPH, to serve as acting health officer when Snohomish County health officer may be absent. Pursuant to RCW 70.05.080, James Miller, MD, MPH, may serve as acting health officer for Snohomish County when so requested.
BACKGROUND: There may be periods when the position of the Snohomish County health officer is vacant or the incumbent health officer may be absent or incapacitated and unable to fulfill the responsibilities of the local health officer, and it is imperative that the responsibilities of the local health officer that require timely public health action be fulfilled for Snohomish County during these periods. The Snohomish County Council passed Motion No. 25-443 approving an interlocal agreement for health officer coverage by Dr. Miller between Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and Snohomish County.
