PURPOSE: To recommend the reappointment of Anthony Fletcher to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 15 members and 10 vacancies.
• Mr. Fletcher resides in Council District 2
• Mr. Fletcher is currently a City of Everett Police Department Sergeant assigned to the Youth Services Unit
• Mr. Fletcher facilitates youth intervention and prevention programs in the public school system
• Mr. Fletcher is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Mr. Fletcher is recommended for a second four-year term upon reappointment
