PURPOSE: The Snohomish County, through its Health Department, and Washington Poison Center (WPC) desire to enter into an agreement to provide afterhours answering services utilizing healthcare providers. Competition is waived under SCC 3.04.202(2).
BACKGROUND: Washington Poison Center will provide the Snohomish County Health Department with 24/7 call support for afterhours and weekend/holiday calls for notifiable conditions and emergencies. Advantages of an afterhours answering service ensure that clients reach a live, empathetic healthcare professional instead of voicemail, and acts as an extension of the Health Department to handle emergencies, and filter routine inquiries, ultimately improving operational efficiency.
