PURPOSE: Requesting the County Council authorize the County Executive to sign the Professional Services agreement with Cascadia Consulting Group, Inc. for the creation of the Snohomish County Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan.
BACKGROUND: As the impacts of climate change continue to escalate, Snohomish County recognizes the critical need for specialized expertise to develop a robust and adaptable response strategy. The insights gathered through this initiative will play a pivotal role in steering resource allocation, strategic planning, and policy formulation, thereby enhancing the county's resilience against climate-induced challenges. The urgency for consulting services has intensified due to the amplifying severity of climate impacts and the heightened state mandates for climate resiliency planning and policy development.
