EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approve
PURPOSE: To secure approval of the County Council to authorize acceptance of the transfer of .37 acre real property for public fishing and access to the Skykomish River near Steelhead Park in Sultan.
BACKGROUND: The adopted Snohomish County Park and Recreation Element, in the Parks and Recreation Comprehensive plan, which became effective in 2015, includes a goal to provide open space and natural areas; Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) owns a .37 acre parcel of land managed for public fishing and access to the Skykomish River known as Jonker Access. WDFW wishes to transfer the property to Snohomish County to continue to manage for public fishing access. County acceptance of this transfer will retain the property for public access to the river and contribute to the future uses planned for Steelhead Park. All closing costs will be paid by County estimated approximately $700.00 for title, delivery and recording costs.
