PURPOSE: To approve and authorize Executive to sign grant agreement with WSDA for the Food & Farming Center.

BACKGROUND: Snohomish County was awarded a grant from the Washington State Department of Agriculture for $1,685,428.00. The Resilient Food System Infrastructure Grant will specifically support the acquisition of specialized industrial processing equipment and cold storage, essential for local area farmers' success. By early 2027, the county will install an individually quick-frozen system, an industrial dehydrator, a specialized slicing and dicing machine, wash and pack line, and a dedicated cold storage unit within the processing facility. Additionally, worker safety protocols and HACCP plans will be established for the equipment. The Grant start date is April 1, 2025, and end May 15,2027.

OTHER DEPARTMENTAL REVIEW/COMMENTS: The original grant agreement (which was signed via DocuSign) did not address the self insurance that the County has, so WSDA did amendment No 1 to address that language and the Motion will allow the County Executive to sign the amendment once approved.
