PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Pamela Morrison to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 14 members and 11 vacancies.
• Ms. Morrison resides in Council District 2
• Ms. Morrison has worked as a primary and Special Education instructor in the public school system
• Ms. Morrison is not a member of any other County committee or Council
• Ms. Morrison is recommended for a first four-year term upon appointment
