EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Ken Klein 3/24/25

 

PURPOSE: Ongoing compliance with RCW 84.34, enacted by the state legislature to “maintain, preserve, conserve and otherwise continue in existence adequate open space lands for the production of food, fiber and forest crops, and to assure the use and enjoyment of natural resources and scenic beauty for the economic and social well-being of the state and its citizens” and that “assessment practices must be so designed as to permit the continued availability of open space lands for these purposes.”

 

BACKGROUND: Applicant no longer meets the commercial agricultural income requirements for Open Space Farm & Agriculture and seeks reclassification under Open Space General - Agricultural Conservation for the 7.5 acres for which application has been made. The current use of the subject property is in conformance with the Open Space General - Agricultural Conservation requirements for assessment purposes.
