PURPOSE: To approve and execute an agreement with Helmsman Management Services, LLC to administer the County’s workers’ compensation claims for the Finance Department.
BACKGROUND: The Risk Management Division of the Finance Department currently has an agreement that expires at the end of 2024 with Helmsman to be the third-party administrator of County workers’ compensation claims. The County published RFP-24-021JM to solicit proposals for this service for 2025 through 2030 and Helmsman was selected by the Snohomish County evaluation committee as submitting the highest-ranking proposal to provide this service. The cost of the service is $220,000 for year one with an annual increase of 2% plus WA CPI for each additional year of the contract. Expedited handling is requested as the current contract expires on 12/31/2024.
