PURPOSE: Reappoint Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers to the Sound Transit Board of Directors to serve a four-year term.
BACKGROUND: The appointment of Sound Transit board members is specified in the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) legislation. It states that each member of the board, except the Secretary of Transportation, shall be: (a) an elected official who serves on the legislative authority of a city or as a mayor of a city within the boundaries of the authority; or (b) on the legislative authority of the county, if fifty percent of the population of the legislative official’s district is within the authority boundaries; or (c) a county executive from a member county within the authority boundaries. This ECAF will reappoint County Executive Dave Somers to serve on the Sound Transit Board of Directors, beginning January 1, 2024, and commencing December 31, 2027.
