ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 24-368, approving parking rates and charges effective January 1, 2025

body

DEPARTMENT:  Facilities and Fleet

ORIGINATOR:  Al Garcia

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Ken Klein 8/30/24

PURPOSE: To obtain Council’s approval to raise the allowable maximum parking event rate per vehicle from $30 to $50.

BACKGROUND: The County Council gives the Department of Facilities and Fleet and its Parking Management Contractor the ability to decide the rate to charge for vehicles parking in the garage to attend events at the Angel of the Winds Arena or nearby downtown Everett venues. The Facilities Dept and the Parking Contract analyze the marketability of the event based on past performance of similar type programs and expected attendance based on popularity of people involved. Increasing the maximum allowable rate allows us to benefit more from the more lucrative events and also keeps the County in line with parking event price points being charged in the primary downtown Seattle market which we follow.
