PURPOSE: To recommend the reappointment of Charlotte Zissel to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 10 members and 15 vacancies.
• Ms. Zissel resides in Council District 5
• Ms. Zissel is currently an Early Learning Coach and Trainer with Childcare Aware Northwest
• Ms. Zissel has a BAS in Early Childhood Education
• Ms. Zissel is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Ms. Zissel is recommended for a third four-year term upon appointment
