PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Kyle Strand to the Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The Developmental Disabilities Board is comprised of citizens who serve in an advisory capacity to the Developmental Disability (DD) staff of the Snohomish County Human Services Department. The Board meets monthly and is comprised of up to 15 members, drawing from all areas of the county and a range of backgrounds, including family members, individuals with developmental disabilities, professionals and advocates. * Kyle Strand resides in Council District 1. * Mr. Strand is a special education teacher in the Lake Stevens school district. * Mr. Strand has a passion for education of students in K-12 and Higher Education with experience with people and students of various multicultural and socio-economic backgrounds. * Mr. Strand has a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and master’s degrees in Emergency Management and Homeland Security, as well as Special Education and Teaching. * Kyle Strand does not serve on any other County Board or Commission. * The Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board currently has 8 members and 7 vacancies.
