PURPOSE: Snohomish County, acting through its Health Department, needs access to death data from State of Washington Department of Health and authorization for the disclosure of obituary list information to requesting entities solely for official governmental functions, including public notification of deaths and the closure or termination of records, benefits, or accounts resulting from the death of an individual.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County will use the death data to compile and disclose a weekly death data list for qualified requestors, and to identify and conduct fatality reviews. Qualified requestors could be news media, social media, educational institutions, or individuals actively conducting research or gathering information of interest to the public.
