PURPOSE: Will convene the Board of Equalization to permit the Board to hear 2023 assessment year appeals.
BACKGROUND: RCW 84.48.010(4) provides that, with the approval of the county legislative authority, the Board of Equalization (BOE) may convene at any time when petitions filed exceed twenty-five or ten percent of the number of appeals filed in the preceding year, whichever is greater. The Snohomish County BOE received approximately 1,750 petitions for the 2022 assessment year. The Board has so far received over 500 petitions for the current 2023 assessment year and has requested that the County Council convene the Board for the purpose of hearing these appeals.
