PURPOSE: This action will approve the distribution of additional 2021 PUD privilege taxes received to Snohomish County
BACKGROUND: Each year, the County receives funds representing the privilege tax derived from the Snohomish County PUD’s sale of electric energy within unincorporated Snohomish County, and to the cities within the incorporated area of Snohomish County. PUD provides the County with the breakdown of gross sales by City (attached). The amount of privilege tax remittance due back to the cities is based on three-fourths of one percent of gross sales. The County received an additional $4,652.82 after the original amount was apportioned per Motion 22-235 ($2,829,919.08 to cities/towns and the balance of $4,450,747.16 to the County General Fund). The apportionment for the cities/towns did not change and this motion directs the Treasurer to deposit the additional tax to the County General Fund.
