PURPOSE: To execute the Interagency agreement related to Dependency work between the Washington State Office of Public Defense and Snohomish County through the Office of Public Defense.
BACKGROUND: Historically, assigning cases to lawyers has been the duty and financial obligation of the County, first being administered by Superior Court and eventually by two staff members at the Snohomish County Office of Public Defense. The Washington State Office of Public Defense has agreed that they will work to provide a grant of funds to subsidize the work done by Snohomish County through the Office of Public Defense and to provide for partial or full reimbursement for expenses for the assignment of dependency cases for indigent parents pursuant to RCW 13.34.090(2) in Snohomish County, contingent on available funding.
