PURPOSE: Approve and Authorize Snohomish County Executive to sign the interlocal agreement for chinook salmon conservation planning for the watershed basins within water resource inventory area 8 (WRIA 8)
BACKGROUND: In December of 2015, Snohomish County, King County and 28 cities/towns executed an Interlocal agreement to jointly fund and participate in watershed planning and conservation efforts in WRIA 8, which includes part of Snohomish County. With the conclusion of the current Interlocal agreement approaching, a new Interlocal agreement is currently proposed to provide continued salmon conservation services in WRIA 8. An entity known as WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council will serve as the governing body for the proposed agreement. Cost shares for the participating jurisdictions are calculated based on area, assessed value and population. Snohomish County's share for 2025 is estimate at $81,163. If approved, the new Interlocal would take effect upon execution by all parties and remain in effect until December 31, 2035.
