PURPOSE: Approval of a Joint Funding Agreement with the US Geological Survey (USGS) to conduct hydrologic data collection and investigations at Snohomish County stream gaging stations.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County has utilized USGS services to provide data from stream/river gages since 1986. This contract covers gaging in the Snohomish, Skykomish and Stillaguamish river basins and provides the residents with real-time river levels during storms to aid in evacuation planning and response. In addition to flood warnings, the data collected from stream/river gages also provide important information related to salmon habitat restoration design, flood mitigation and other water resource issues within the County.
