PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Christine Stansfield to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 12 members and 13 vacancies.
• Ms. Stansfield resides in Council District 3
• Ms. Stansfield is currently a Community Engagement Coordinator for the Sno-Isle Libraries system
• Ms. Stansfield has extensive experience building healthy, more equitable communities through partnerships
• Ms. Stansfield is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Ms. Stansfield is recommended for a first four-year term upon appointment
