PURPOSE: Council's approval of reclassification of two positions with the Facilities and Fleet department

BACKGROUND: The County requires Council's approval of changes to management exempt positions. In reviewing its project management needs going forward, the Facilities and Fleet Director proposes two reclassifications of two existing positions: 1) Architectural and Construction Project Manager to Division Manager, a position upgrade from classified to non-classified (management exempt), from paygrade 246 to paygrade 250 (previously paygrade 112). This position will manage our project management professional to improve better processes in delivery of facility projects: 2) Special Projects Coordinator to Projects Advisor, a position regrade from non- classified (management exempt) to classified represented, from pay grade 111 to pay grade 245). This position's job duties were reviewed and tightened to focus on fleet projects as originally conceived. Human Resources and the Executive's Office have reviewed and approved our reclassification request. We are now requesting Council's approval to move one position and remove one other position from the management exempt (non-classified) group effective January 1, 2026.
