PURPOSE: To approve Interlocal Agreement between WDFW and Snohomish County for the Operation and Maintenance of Public Access of Chinook Marsh.
BACKGROUND: The County has previously acquired real property for the project area commonly known as Chinook Marsh located within the Snohomish River Estuary. The Chinook Marsh Restoration project site lays within an area designated as a “no shooting area” except for shotgun shooting during legal open hunting season under chapter 10.12 Snohomish County Code (SCC) and has been informally used for waterfowl hunting for multiple decades. Pursuant to 39.34 RCW, the parties wish to allow WDFW to access, maintain and operate hunting amenities on the Property for the benefit of the public, while the County continues to maintain ownership. Please note that, if approved by Council, the ILA document will be sent by WDFW via email for Executive level signature.
