Executive/Council Action Form (ECAF)
ITEM TITLE:
Title
Motion 26-185, approving and authorizing the 2025-2030 Lease for Dawson Place
body
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
ORIGINATOR: Carl Jorgensen
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Thomas Teigen 4/22/26
PURPOSE: To continue occupying 8,554 square feet at Dawson Place in conjunction with the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County has been leasing Dawson Place for 5-year terms since 2010. This space supports work done by the Special Assault Unit for the DPA and the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) along with the participation of other agencies that encompass the various operations of the Child Advocacy Center. The lease expired on June 30, 2025. The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney’s office confirmed they wished to extend the lease for another 5 years as the space supports the DPA and the Sheriff’s Office. The owner of Dawson Place was contacted and provided the terms for the new 5-year lease. Due to an oversight, the new lease was not presented to the DPA, Risk Management or the Council for proper approvals at the time of renewal. The purpose of this new Motion is to correct that error (after the fact) to have the lease formerly approved by Council as per code.
