body

DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Clarissa Barrett

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Ken Klein 12/19/23

PURPOSE: This Critical Area Site Plan complies with requirements of the Critical Area Study (January 2009) in connection with the 35th Ave SE & 180th St SE Intersection Improvement, filed with Snohomish County Public Works under Survey #4050. Mitigation was required per Chapter 30.62A SCC (Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas.)

BACKGROUND: The 35th Ave SE & 180th St SE Intersection Improvement was approved for construction by the Army Corps of Engineers (Permit NWS#2008-1433.)  As part of the regulatory permit process, a Critical Area Study (January 2009) was required in order to construct the project.  The Study required an area for compensatory wetland mitigation in a designated protection site that would be left permanently undisturbed in a substantially natural state.  Parcel 27050900305800 was provided as the compensatory mitigation site for the project’s impacts to critical areas.  Permanent protection of this mitigation site requires approval by the Snohomish County Council and recording of a Critical Area Site Plan with the County Auditor.
