PURPOSE: Ongoing compliance with RCW 84.34, enacted by the state legislature to “maintain, preserve, conserve and otherwise continue in existence adequate open space lands for the production of food, fiber and forest crops, and to assure the use and enjoyment of natural resources and scenic beauty for the economic and social well-being of the state and its citizens” and that “assessment practices must be so designed as to permit the continued availability of open space lands for these purposes.”
BACKGROUND: For parcel 32070700300100, applicant no longer meets the income requirements for Open Space Farm & Agriculture due to lack of sufficient agricultural income required by the current classification. The parcel is wooded, in its natural state, and is not expected to return to farming. For parcels 32070700100500, 32070800200300 and 32070800300300, applicant is no longer growing and harvesting timber and therefore does not meet the qualifications of the Designated Forestland program. Applicant seeks reclassification for all 4 parcels under Open Space General Land for 180.81 allowable of 191.14 acres for which application has been made. The current use of the subject property conforms to the requirements of the Open Space General Land classification for assessment purposes.
