body
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
ORIGINATOR: Lori Ericsson
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Ken Klein 5/10/24
PURPOSE: Approval of the Agreement between Snohomish County and the Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District.
BACKGROUND: Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District (the “District”) owns and operates a wastewater collection system within Snohomish County and provides wastewater treatment services to the City of Everett. In 2003 the County entered into an agreement with the District in order for the County to connect County wastewater facilities to District wastewater facilities within the District’s service area. The previous agreement has been in place for over 21 years and is set to expire on June 30, 2024. The County and District have negotiated a new 20-year agreement to provide for the County’s continued connection to the District System to discharge wastewater, leachate and stormwater through December 31, 2044. The District approved the agreement on May 2, 2024. If approved, the cost for these services is estimated at $2,000,000.
