PURPOSE: To recommend the reappointment of Michele Meaker to the North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (NSBHASO) Advisory Board currently has 3 (three) Snohomish County vacancies. The NSBHASO Advisory Board advocates for the interests of individuals with mental health issues and substance use disorder, and provides recommendations to the NSBHASO Board of Directors, consisting of elected officials from Island, San Juan, Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish Counties. The Advisory Board is comprised of twenty-six (26) members, nine (9) from Snohomish County.
Michele Meaker has been an advocate for public health and mental health services for the majority of her career. Ms. Meaker is the former Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) East side, providing a vital link between public mental health providers and the community at large. Ms. Meaker understands that lives are changed when people in crisis are supported by their community, and the community is stronger for it. Ms. Meaker resides in Council District 2 and is applying for reappointment of a three-year term. The NSBHASO Advisory Board voted unanimously to recommend this individual for reappointment. Ms Meaker's term expires 8/31/2027. Michele Meaker also serves on the Chemical Dependency Mental Health Program Advisory Board.
