EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Ken Klein 8/7/25

 

PURPOSE: Transferring park to the city for management of the park and to bear the costs associated with ownership saving Snohomish County approximately $65,000 per year in maintenance costs. This will allow Parks Department to dedicate and reassign maintenance resources from Cavalero Park to the soon to be reacquired park of Doc Hagerman from the City of Lynnwood. 

 

BACKGROUND: On June 29, 2001, the Snohomish County Council approved Motion 01-213 authorizing acquisition of 26 acres of real property known as Cavalero Hill Park from Cavalero Hill LLC and completed the acquisition on June 29, 2001. In 2010 the City of Lake Stevens completed a large annexation of unincorporated Snohomish County which included Cavalero Hill Park. Assessor’s Parcel No’s. 29052600101100, 29052600101200, 29052600101300, 29052600101400, 29052600101500, 29052600101600 AND 29052600104200 (the “Parcel”) contains approximately 26 acres and is inside the city limits of the City of Lake Stevens. The custodial owner of said parcel - Conservation and Natural Resources - wishes to donate the land to the City of Lake Stevens for management of the park and to bear the costs associated with ownership of the Parcel.
