PURPOSE: To fill a vacant position within the Airport Commission.

 

BACKGROUND: .

                     The Airport Commission was established by Ordinance 17-003 on March 29, 2017.

                     The Airport Commission acts as an advisory board to the Executive.

                     The Airport Commission is composed of thirteen (13) members consisting of one person from each council district, three persons from the airport tenant community, three persons from the business community, and two persons from the county at large.

                     Mr. Peter Bro had represented District #5 on the Airport Commission.

                     Mr. Bro has resigned and Matthew Loverink has applied to represent District #5 on the Commission.

                     Mr. Loverink retired from the U.S. Navy in October 2022 and currently works as a Helicopter Ambulance Pilot for Air Methods Corporation. Prior to retiring from the Navy, Mr. Loverink held positions as the Executive Officer of Naval Station Everett and was a liaison between the base and the community.  He also led Naval Station Everett's Operational Planning Group. While assigned to the US Navy’s 6th Fleet in Italy, he was the Deputy Executive Assistant to the 6th Fleet Commander and served as the 6th Fleet Air Operations Officer in charge of planning and overseeing air operations for Europe and Africa. Mr. Loverink also been a volunteer with Lake Stevens Little League and the Boys and Girls Club.

                     It is recommended that Mr. Loverink fill the vacant District #5 Representative position for the balance of the term which is set to expire January 31, 2024.
