EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approve-Ken Klein 12/1/2021
PURPOSE: Approval of a Joint Funding Agreement with the US Geological Survey (USGS) to conduct hydrologic data collection and investigations at Snohomish County stream gaging stations.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County has utilized USGS services to provide data from stream/river gages since 1986. This contract covers gaging in the Snohomish, Skykomish and Stillaguamish river basins and provides the residents with real-time river levels during storms to aid in evacuation planning and response. In addition to flood warnings, the data collected from stream/river gages also provide important information related to salmon habitat restoration design, flood mitigation and other water resource issues within the County. The agreement period of performance is October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. Shared cost for the operation of the river gages totals $105,186. USGS will contribute $11,194.
