EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approve

 

PURPOSE: Confirm the appointment of Michele Blythe to serve an initial three-year term on the Snohomish County COA

 

BACKGROUND: The Snohomish County Council on Aging is comprised of individuals who represent various age, gender, ethnic and employment backgrounds from each of the five geographic council districts.  Each year the Snohomish County Long Term Care & Aging advertises widely for applicants to fill vacant Council on Aging positions.  The applications were reviewed and the Council on Aging membership interviewed the applicant.  The potential nominee was interviewed as to level of interest, areas of expertise, and commitment to serving on the Council on Aging.                         The Council on Aging membership recommends the following individual for appointment to the Snohomish County Council on Aging for an initial three-year term ending September 30, 2024:                       Michele Blythe, County District #1                                           Current Employment:  Councilmember for the City of Arlington                                           Education: AA General Studies, Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership (AWC), CBA Graduate School of Retail Banking                                           Experience: Michele is the current State Council on Aging (SCOA) representaive for the Association of Washington Cities.  In the up-coming year, she will co-chair the legislative committee on the SCOA.  Michele was the former co-chair for the Arlington Civil Service Commission and former member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Stilly Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Since the COVIC-19 Pandemic, Michele has become passionate about being more pro-active regarding issues facing the Senior Citizens in our community.                                          Michele Blythe is not a member of any other County Boards or Commission.
