PURPOSE: To approve a motion that amends a contract between Joyce Ziker Partners and the Prosecuting Attorney for services related to the litigation of the civil lawsuit, Robinett Brothers, LLC v. Snohomish County.
BACKGROUND: The Prosecuting Attorney entered into a Contract for Special Services with Joyce Ziker Partners on July 11, 2019, for assistance with the litigation of civil lawsuit, Robinett Brothers, LLC v. Snohomish County. At that time, the compensation was not to exceed $15,000. On December 14, 2020, the Prosecuting Attorney approved an amendment to that contract that raised the compensation limit to $40,000. As litigation continues, the Prosecuting Attorney is requesting approval from the Council of a second amendment in which compensation is not to exceed $100,000. The duration of the contract is unspecified. The expectation is that the contract will end when the lawsuit ends. The ECAF requests the Council to approve the motion that allows the Executive to approve the increase in the compensation limit.
