ITEM TITLE:

Title

Ordinance 21-055, relating to the Growth Management Act, adopting Future Land Use Map Amendments to the Snohomish County Growth Management Act Comprehensive Plan and amending the Zoning Map to implement changes to the Future Land Use Map (SW7 - Marv Thomas)

body

DEPARTMENT: Planning and Development Services

ORIGINATOR:  Steve Skorney, Senior Planner

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approve

PURPOSE: Final Docket XX proposal by Marv Thomas amending the Future Land Use (FLU) Map of the General Policy Plan (GPP) by redesignating 6.61 acres in the Southwest Urban Growth Area (SWUGA) from Urban Low Density Residential (ULDR) to Urban Commercial (UC) with a concurrent rezone from R-7,200 to Community Business (CB).

BACKGROUND: The SW7 proposal is considered a minor docket proposal that can be processed for final action in 2021 as it does not alter an urban growth area and does not substantially increase land capacity.  The SW7 proposal is consistent with the requirements of the GMA and policies in the Countywide Planning Policies (CPP), Multicounty Planning Policies (MPP) and the GPP as the additional employment capacity could support nearby urban residential and rural areas.  The SW7 proposal may provide the opportunity for commercial processing of agricultural products from nearby farms to support the county’s economy and provide living wage jobs.  The Planning Commission recommended approval of the SW7 proposal at a public hearing on June 22, 2021.
