PURPOSE: Executive approval for grant application 2025-2026 WA Dept of Commerce Byrne Justice Assistance Technology Improvement Grant
BACKGROUND: *The purpose of the WA Dept of Commerce “Washington JAG Priority Area Funding” is to make available funding that will support government agencies and organizations. *This grant application will support funding for the purchase of an MX-908 handheld mass spectrometer for use by multiple disciplines throughout the community. *The MX-908 device can analyze a wide range of substances and drugs that plague communities with substance use disorder and drug overdoses. *Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Regional Drug Task Force will be partner with the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. *The MX-908 can provide valuable information to the Medical Examiner’s Office for drug overdose cases. *There is no match required for this grant. *Currently the Sheriff’s Office is requesting Executive approval to apply for the 2025-2026 WA Dept of Commerce Byrne Justice Assistance Technology Improvement Grant in the amount of $81,500.00
