Title

Motion 25-275, authorizing the County Executive to sign Professional Services Agreement CC01-25 with Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. to support Snohomish County’s purchase, sale and redevelopment of real property

body

DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Julie High

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Ken Klein 63/25

PURPOSE: Approval of authorizing the County Executive to sign professional services agreement CC01-25 with Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson PS to support Snohomish County’s purchase, sale and redevelopment of real property

BACKGROUND:
Public Works has identified a need for specialized attorney services to support the purchase, sale and redevelopment of real property.
The County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is currently not able to provide these services for Public Works.
An immediate need exists for legal assistance with the preparation and negotiation for a Purchase and Sale agreement for an 8.5 acre parcel (Tax Acct # 310511500100900) located north of the north county operations and maintenance facility located at 67th Avenue NE and 197th Street NE in Arlington, Washington.
Due to the property’s proximity to Public Works’ North County Operations and Road Maintenance Facility, as well as the North County Solid Waste Transfer Station this property will provide greater efficiency and flexibility for future redevelopment of these facilities.
The contracted firm will also assist with the County’s efforts to address ongoing environmental matters with the Department of Ecology and Snohomish County Department of Health related to the purchase of this property.
