PURPOSE: Approve and authorize the County Executive to execute the Washington State Department of Commerce Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) - Supplemental Funds grant agreement.
BACKGROUND: The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded Snohomish County $49,584 for supplemental Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for the period July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2025. Authorized spending limit per each fiscal year: $24,792 in SFY24 (July 1, 2023- June 30, 2024) and $24,792 in SFY25 (July 1, 2024- June 30, 2025).
This Agreement, with Washington State Department of Commerce, provides supplemental funding to prioritize racial equity and undoing inequity from historic under investment in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and rural communities. CSBG funds, in accordance with federal law, are used to address local priority needs determined through a low income needs assessment.
