PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Michele Meaker to the North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization Advisory Board advocates for the interests of mentally ill persons and their families and substance use disorder persons, and provides recommendations to the North Sound BH-ASO Board of Directors, consisting of elected officials from Island, San Juan, Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish Counties. The Advisory Board is comprised of twenty-six (26) members, nine (9) from Snohomish County.
Michele Meaker has been an advocate for public health and mental health services for the majority of her career. Ms. Meaker is the former Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Eastside, providing a vital link between public mental health providers and the community at large. Ms. Meaker understands that lives are changed when people in crisis are supported by their community, and the community is stronger for it. Ms. Meaker resides in Council District #2 and is applying for an initial three-year term commencing upon appointment.
Ms. Meaker does not serve on any other county boards or commissions.
