PURPOSE: Approval of Change Order 2 with OMA Construction Inc. for the Kayak Day Use Phase 2 project.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County Parks Department went out to bid for Kayak Day Use Phase 2 Bid No. PW-25-0495SB with the playground as a bid alternative to ensure Parks had the funding to support the construction of the new playground. Parks received very competitive bids to install the playground and have funding to support the change from Engineered Wood Fiber to Synthetic turn to provide a more uniform and ADA compliant surfacing. The bid was awarded to OMA Construction Inc. in the amount of $3,605,000.00 (plus applicable sales tax) on December 4, 2025. Change Order 2 is proposed for 369,972.25 (plus applicable sales tax) and is for labor and materials to Replace Engineered Wood Fiber playground surfacing and add 11,614 square feet of Forever Lawn Playground Grass Ultra with 3" safety pad and certified for a 10-foot critical fall height. Includes Envirofill infill, edging in composite board, and seaming tape.
